Music Monday : Saxon Shore
A long time ago, I decided to start writing about the music I listen to. I figured it was a good way for people to get an idea of who I was musically. Unfortunately, I never actually found the time to start writing. The pressures of school have kept my creativity at bay for the past four years, but now that I’m about to graduate I find it can finally feel free to fly. (I’m also a big fan of alliteration so I may use it extensively. I haven’t decided yet).
So this is the first of what will be a weekly occurrence. Every Monday I will write about a new band / artist / group that I enjoy listening to and make some comments about them, as well as post audio samples for you to taste.
Here’s the first one. Enjoy!

During my years in college, my ears have been exposed to a medley of different musical groups. Only some have managed to make it past my cochlea and form a nest in my brain, however. One such group is Saxon Shore.
I won’t claim to know much about them. They just found their way into my life via last.fm’s recommendation radio after I started listening to Explosions In The Sky and I fell in love with their sound. According to their wikipedia, they’re an American post-rock band with members from Philadelphia and Brooklyn. Their latest album is “It Doesn’t Matter” and was released in 2009. Their website seems to have formed some digital cobwebs (their latest post was in August, 2009) but I find myself coming back to listen to “It Doesn’t Matter” nonetheless.
Here’s one of my personal favorites off the aforementioned record. This is the second track on the album and acts as a climax to the 6-minute long intro track.
